Recently, the Cybersecurity Review Office conducted a cyber security review of Meiguang Company‘s products sold in China in accordance with the law.http://www.ic-bom.com/
The review found that Meiguang Company‘s products have serious network security risks, posing significant security risks to China‘s key information infrastructure supply chain and affecting China‘s national security. Therefore, the Cybersecurity Review Office has made a conclusion in accordance with the law that it will not pass the cybersecurity review. According to laws and regulations such as the Cybersecurity Law, operators of critical information infrastructure in China should stop purchasing products from Meiguang Company.
The network security review of Meiguang Company‘s products is aimed at preventing product network security issues from endangering the security of key national information infrastructure, and is a necessary measure to maintain national security. China firmly promotes high-level opening-up to the outside world, and as long as it complies with Chinese laws and regulations, welcomes enterprises and various platform products and services from various countries to enter the Chinese market.
Previously, on the evening of March 31 this year, the Cybersecurity Review Office announced that it would conduct a cybersecurity review of Meiguang‘s products sold in China.
On the evening of March 31st, the Cyberspace Administration released a notice on the launch of a cybersecurity review of Meiguang‘s products sold in China
In recent years, Micron Technology has repeatedly acted as the "behind the scenes" to suppress Chinese memory chip enterprises, including suing Taiwan, China Unicom for stealing its key technology of memory chips and handing it to Fujian Jinhua, and planning to launch a patent lawsuit against Hefei Changxin, the domestic DRAM leader (for details, please refer to the article "Cyber Information Office‘s raid on Micron! How long can America‘s" pro son "be prosperous?").http://www.ic-bom.com/
According to Jiweiwang, according to all lobbying data required by the US House of Representatives and federal regulations, Micron Technology has been the most frequently lobbied company in the US semiconductor industry to the Department of Commerce and the Office of the Trade Representative since 2018, and is the only US semiconductor company to raise issues related to "China and competition".
From 2018 to 2022, Meiguang submitted over 170 lobbying content to government departments, among which trade, intellectual property, and Chinese competition content almost directly targeted China, while technology, manufacturing, and immigration content were also highly related to China. Apart from tax and funding lobbying content, China related lobbying content accounted for up to 67%.
Chinese Mainland market was once one of the largest markets of Micron Technology. In 2018, Meguiar‘s revenue in Chinese Mainland reached a peak of more than 17.3 billion US dollars, accounting for 58%. In the following years, Meguiar‘s revenue in the Chinese Mainland market gradually shrank to 3.3 billion US dollars in 2022, accounting for nearly 11%. As it fails the network security review, Meiguang Technology‘s nearly 11% direct revenue and broader indirect sales revenue are expected to be affected.
