SiC substrates are working hard! Just now! Infineon announced that they have signed multi-year cooperation agreements with two SiC substrate manufacturers, Tianke Heda and Tianyue Advanced, for SiC substrates and ingots.http://www.ic-bom.com/
This is another international SiC device manufacturer that has publicly announced the use of SiC substrates from Chinese manufacturers after Bosch. This is a milestone event for domestic SiC, reflecting the recognition of the technology of leading domestic SiC enterprises and the strong demand for automotive grade SiC.
On May 3rd, Infineon signed a long-term agreement with Tianke Heda and Tianyue Advanced to ensure more and competitive supply of silicon carbide materials.http://www.ic-bom.com/
This announcement reveals three key points:
Tianke Heda and Tianyue Advanced mainly provide Infineon with 6-inch silicon carbide substrates, and will also provide 8-inch silicon carbide materials to assist Infineon in transitioning to 8-inch SiC wafers.
Unlike other manufacturers, Infineon‘s agreement also includes silicon carbide ingots, as they have invested nearly 1 billion yuan to acquire a laser cold stripping enterprise. In the future, they will improve the utilization rate of silicon carbide substrates and enhance the cost competitiveness of devices through independent laser technology.
The supply of both companies will account for a double-digit share of Infineon‘s long-term demand.
Infineon stated that this collaboration with two Chinese SiC substrate manufacturers is aimed at diversifying its SiC supplier system and providing silicon carbide semiconductor products to over 3600 automotive and industrial customers worldwide.http://www.ic-bom.com/
According to February 2nd, Infineon released its first quarter financial report for the 2023 fiscal year, they received orders for SiC devices worth several hundred million euros (over 700 million RMB) from Hyundai Motor in that quarter. In the past four months, Infineon has secured a silicon carbide design spot worth 3 billion euros (approximately 22.26 billion RMB).http://www.ic-bom.com/
To this end, Infineon stated that signing contracts with Tianke Heda and Tianyue Advanced will help ensure the stability of the entire supply chain, while meeting the growing demand for silicon carbide semiconductor products in the Chinese market in areas such as automotive, solar, and electric vehicle charging applications and energy storage systems, and will promote the rapid development of emerging semiconductor materials.
