It is revealed that the total construction amount of the joint venture factory is expected to reach approximately 3.2 billion US dollars (approximately 22.82 billion RMB), and it is planned to be put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2025. It is expected to be fully completed by 2028.

Jean Marc Chery, president and CEO of STMicroelectronics, said that the combination of the future 200mm substrate manufacturer of San‘an Optoelectronics with the front-end joint venture and the existing back-end factory of STMicroelectronics in Shenzhen, China, will enable STMicroelectronics to provide our Chinese customers with a fully Vertical integration SiC value chain.

In addition, Jean Marc Chery also stated that the joint venture company is expected to be one of the drivers of the opportunity we see for SiC revenue to reach over $5 billion by 2030. In the 2022 annual report, San‘an Optoelectronics pointed out that "Hunan San‘an, as one of the few vertical manufacturing platforms for silicon carbide industry chain in China, includes long crystal substrate production epitaxial growth chip preparation packaging. The production capacity of silicon carbide has reached 12000 pieces/month, and the production capacity of silicon based gallium nitride is 2000 pieces/month.
